A Quick Note on Microsoft Certifications

Earning a Microsoft Certification demonstrates the experience on using Microsoft products and platforms and technical problem-solving skills.
To make it also reflect your job-related experience, the certification choosed must be dependant upon your current position or planned career path. As a result, a MS certification not only helps you stay up-to-speed on the latest Microsoft technologies, but showcases your skills and value on the job.
Microsoft has restructured their certification program to create customized certification paths that are very targeted. You start with a MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) that consists of one to three exams on specific technologies. You can then continue to the MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) and then to the MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer). All of the exams along this certification path allow you to learn and develop skills according to your area of expertise. Be sure to check Microsoft Learning to see a complete list of exams.
Below is what I think being interesting to share from my experience of passing through such an examination.

A few subjective tips.

First of all I think it is very important to really like the subject you intend to get certified on, this helps the process of reading/browsing/understanding the text of the questions and the scenarios which may become a considerable amount of text and for the most of them one word can make a difference.
Regarding the preparation I’ve used the exam training kit, and the development environment to test some of the code samples. Being known the amount of the learning material I think it’s a good idea to break it into friendly pieces and learn one at a time ignoring the rest for the moment.
I’ve focused more on the leaning tests part of every chapter because I also think it is important to practice against time with exam-like questions. Considering that you always see the time ticking during the exam, it’s good morale lifting to test your knowledge with a bigger amount of questions and trying to correctly resolve them in a timely manner. This will also make the real exam questions look fewer and easier to understand.
