Use Traveler 8.5.1 with iPhone
Today I’ve update for testing Traveler from 8.5 to Traveler 8.5.1 – this process was made on Windows environment.
To update Traveler first you have to update Domino server – that is simple following steps from self extracting installation (CZ5RTEN archive) – it detect actual version of Domino installed and if it is 8.5 it will proceed to update.
I personal recommend to have a back up before update.
After Domino is updated do same with Traveler 8.5.1 (CZ5SYML) – and follow steps and then start the server.
If you like to update clients (PDA version) be aware to replace index.htm with index_template.html – Traveler set up process is not rewriting index.html file. You can find it on \Domino\data\domino\html\traveler\index_template.html .
Set up iPhone – starting with this version Traveler support ActiveSync.
Set up on iPhone a new Exchage account and complete all steps.
Tip: you have to specify full path at Server - yourserver.com/servlet/traveler
Even if is giving you error message when you create account you can save the profile.
When you try to get emails it may be possible to obtain some error messages – wait few seconds and try again – after several times it runs.
Steps needed to set up new account (from IBM documentation):
1. Select Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange.
2. Complete the following fields, and select Next.
* Email – Specify your mail address (for example, yourname@yourcompany.com).
* Domain – Leave this field blank.
* Username – Specify your HTTP user ID.
* Password – Specify your HTTP password.
* Description – Specify a description, or leave the default (the Email field value).
3. Specify your server in the Server field in the format yourserver.com/servlet/traveler, and select Next.
Note: SSL is enabled by default (and recommended) so if SSL is not used, you must disable SSL for the account. To do so, select Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > account name > Account Info, and then change Use SSL to OFF.
4. Select the applications you want to synchronize, and select Done.
