Ethereum: Quick & Dirty Presentation at Sibiu Web Meetup #20

Share

After a long series of online meetups, the first offline edition of Sibiu Web Meetup welcomed participants with a present-day topic, or shall we say future-proof topic since it is about Ethereum.

Ethereum is the second player in the market of cryptocurrencies after Bitcoin. Conceived in 2013 by programmer Vitalik Buterin and launched in 2015, Ethereum is blockchain platform for immutable, programmable smart contract, using a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm, with the ether (ETH or Ξ) being the native cryptocurrency of the platform.

Crypto technologies are a key interest for many developers who want to extend their know-how in the field of cryptocurrency development. And what a more appropriate speaker on the topic than Daniel Luca, security advisor and software programmer, and connoisseur of Ethereum since 2017.

In his presentation at Sibiu Web Meetup #20 he covered basic information for developers and a quick start to help them engage in the blockchain development world. If you hit play on the video below you will learn of the structure of contracts, next-level secure authentication, rules of how blockchains work and ensure fairness among contracts and much more. Simulations of transactions were the icing on the cake, we really enjoyed it.

Participants’ key takeaway was the reassurance that the main concern of crypto technologies are for rules to never get compromised in blockchain development, but also a series of tools and resources to exercise and experiment writing code, such as cryptozombies.io, Ethernaut, or Capture the ether. After you are done with the playtime, next step is the professional league – Ethereum development environment for professionals.
